These advanced writer training courses apply the principles, processes and techniques covered in the intermediate course Writing well at work to specific types of documents and writing tasks.

You will get most benefit from these advanced writer training courses if you already have some basic knowledge and expertise in plain language writing.

The courses are consistent with the international plain language standard.


Writing ministerial briefing notes

Briefing notes are an essential tool in the processes of government (as are similar documents in business). But they can be very difficult to write. This half-day course covers the intent of briefing notes, how they are structured, and some helpful ideas for writing documents that are brief, well thought, and effective.


Writing policy & procedure

Policy and procedure define the goals and the boundaries. They describe what is discretionary and what is non-discretionary in the way we work within the organisation.
